BREC's Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center: Rockin' at the Swamp March 8
BREC’s Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center (BSNC), 10503 N. Oak Hills Parkway, will host its fifth annual Rockin' at the Swamp event Sat., March 8 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Mark your calendars and get ready to ‘rock out’ in the world of geology.
This rockin' event encourages exploration, including activities and displays about rocks, gemstones, minerals and fossils. In addition to hands-on exhibits, vendors showcase both rough and polished mineral specimens and fossils in the Rockhound Market.
Our "Gold" Mine features the perfect pyrite specimens for your collection. Children ages 12 and younger will even enjoy the kids’ gold rush, which allows younger children to go for the gold and clean out the mine at the end of the day.
Along the Treasure Trail, rockhound veterans and beginners alike can collect specimens for their own gemstone identification cards.
Explore the Fossil Quarry where fossil hunters can have fun collecting mineralized shark teeth, shells and other prehistoric creature features found in stone.
Climb to new heights and adventures on our Rock Climbing Wall that will be available all day.
Children and adults interested in homemade souvenirs can use their creative talents to produce one-of-a-kind pet rocks at the stone craft corner. Vibrant shades and patterns added by visitors solidify the unforgettable memories.
Admission is $4 for children ages 2-17; $5 for adults; $2 for BSNC pass holders; and free for children 2 and younger.
