Sunday Coupon Preview
This Sunday there will be a Smart Source and Redplum insert in the newspaper. Check out Taylor Town Preview for a list of what coupons that you can expect. Please note that these may vary by region.
*ALWAYS make sure to check your papers for inserts before you purchase!!
The most asked questions that I get are about local newspaper inserts so here are a few answers:
First of all, I would like to note that in my weekly Sunday Coupon Preview, I list the inserts that are available nationally. While I realize that both The Advocate and The Times-Picayune will/may not have all of the available inserts in them, I want to give you information about what's out there.
With that said, here are some questions that I would like to answer. Please feel free to comment at the bottom or this post with any more questions :)
How many papers should buy?
I personally buy 4-6 every Sunday depending on the amount/quality of coupons. This allows me to stock up on items that I find FREE or at rock bottom. If you can't afford to buy more than one newspaper, ask your friends/family/neighbors if you can have theirs.
Does The Advocate or Times Picayune have the best coupons?
There's no easy answer here. The Times Picayune generally has more coupons and it sometimes has the Redplum inserts that The Advocate does not contain (the RedPlum insert comes in the mail with the weekly store ads in the Baton Rouge area).
However, The Advocate does have the sought after P&G insert where as The Times Picayune does not (at least in the Baton Rouge area). And of course, The Advocate is much easier to find here.
In summary, I personally buy (4) Times Picayune and (2) Advocates on regular weeks. On the weeks that contain a P&G - I buy 4-6 Advocates and only (2) Times Picayunes. **You will notice that I always buy in increments of 2 and thats to use 2 coupons on B1G1 Free sales.
Where can I find The Times Picayune in Baton Rouge?
I find them at Albertson's, Walgreens, Starbucks and some gas stations. These will not be at all locations of these stores so call ahead.
Will The Times Picayune and/or The Advocate have all of the inserts mentioned?
As I stated before, the inserts that I list are on a national scale. This does not guarantee that any one of these papers will have them available. And honestly, it's usually pretty random as to when they will be. ALWAYS check your papers before you buy!
Why don't we have some of the coupons listed in our area?
Again, the coupons listed all come from a national database. You may see coupons listed in store flyers as well. For instance, CVS puts in their ad "save even more with a $2.00 coupon found in your Sunday paper", only, we don't have that coupon.
Coupons are regional, so different parts of the country have different coupons. BUT - there are ways to get the coupons that you like. You can order from coupon clipping services.
What is a coupon clipping service?
This is a company that sells individually clipped coupons or in some instances whole inserts. This is a great way to get coupons that are not available in your area or to stock up on coupons that you use most. In my experience, your coupons will arrive within 3-5 days but always read the information provide on their website. Here are the services that I recommend:
