About Me

My name is Maggie Howes and I live in Prairieville, Louisiana which is just minutes from Baton Rouge. I have been a stay-at-home-mom for the past 10 1/2 years. I have an incredible husband, Bryan, and three beautiful daughters, Baylee, Skylar and Isabella that keep me on my toes. Being in charge of my family's finances, I am always looking for ways to save money wherever possible. I always assumed groceries and household costs were something that I had little control over, until I was introduced to a different way of couponing!

I feel so privileged to share this knowledge with you and have a great time doing so. Please feel free to leave a comment about what you would like to see on My Baton Rouge Mommy. After all, I do this for you!!

  7. I lived off of Old Jefferson last year while I was working in BR. I loved it there and really miss living there. The Winn-Dixie in Prarieville has great markdowns on meat if you get there early!

  9. This is an awesome website. Not very many people in this area coupon. I am from Thibodaux, but used to live in Prairieville. We don't have alot of the double coupon stores nearby, but Target and Winn-Dixie are pretty good. And..of course CVS and WAGS! I am a 28 year old couponer with 3 kids under 4. I am a full time teacher and mom, but I love couponing. It's my hobby so thanks for your site it will help us on our way to becoming DEBT FREE! I LOVE IT!! -HEIDI

  22. I am forever grateful for all the effort you have put into this site. I am a mother and a wife, and I work a full time job in Gonzales. I saw your special on the news last week and it has changed my life!! I have been addicted to cutting coupons since then (and sharing it with everyone). I went to Target with all of your info the other day, spent 3 hours shopping and analyzing, and by the time i left I saved $100!!!!! That is serious! I got $400 worth of groceries and household items for $300 bucks!!! And I really don't need to grocery shop for at least 3 weeks. (I have a 12 year old boy who eats more than all of us combined!) The best thing was, I only used the coupons when it was the best deal and bc of your database, I had one for just about everything I needed. I opened another email account just for this, so my regular email wasn't flooded with offers. As you can tell, I am very excited to save. My husband supports it 100%. lol Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

  24. Hello from Omaha, Nebraska! I just started looking into couponing and came across your site. How incredible!!! You saved me *so* much time with your Target and Walgreens matchups. I shopped at Target today and saved 30% on my bill including lots of health and beauty products, household items, and groceries ($90 in savings!) This trip was my very first time price matching and using coupons...it took 2 1/2 hours to shop and checkout, but well worth it and I know it will go faster as I do it more. You have no idea how much you are helping people across the country!!! I wish there were more people like you in this world! Thank you for what you do and all the time you put into it, you'll never truly know how much you are helping people! Keep it up and I can't wait to be a regular viewer of your website.

  28. Hi Mrs. Howie,
My name is Linda Wilson and I'm a Director of a support service for adults with intellectual disabilities. One of our volunteer programs for the last couple of years has been collecting box tops and donating them to a local school. As I was browsing the internet searching for a site that would possibly provide a list of local schools, I ran upon your website. What a wonderful project! I (our organization) would like to connect with you to assist us with identifying a school that offer volunteer services that our individuals could have an opportunity to give back as well as donate our box tops! Please email me @ lbwilson67@yahoo.com. Looking forward to speaking with you!

Thanks Maggie for all you do. You have made my shopping so much easier. You save me time by already matching coupons with sales items and money by finding coupons I didn't know existed. Please keep your site up and going! I am one of your best fans.
Couponing was more of a chore before sites like yours. Thank you again!

  32. If you really want to help others save money, tell us how much money you make from this blog and how we can do it too!
    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow.. I just noticed this. I can tell you that Maggie does this because she loves helping others save money not because this makes money. Maggie has always been dedicated to helping others not - helping herself. If you really knew all of the unpaid hours of work she puts into this you would think again about wanting to do the same - unless you were really in it to help out others..

  34. Wow! Mr/Ms Anonymous wrote today asking My Baton Rouge Mommy how much money she makes. I get your sense of humor because I'm sure that no one could be so crude as to actually think it is ever OK to ask another individual how much money they do or do not have. I personally have use this Blog to save a significant amount of money for my family and I want to say Thank you to My Baton Rouge Mommy for taking the time to help this Father of 3 make ends meet. Keep up the good work and don't let bitter people try to bring you down.

    Thank you. Arthur H.

  35. "Anonymous" poster regarding how you earn money from blogging -- Google it. Or better yet, Swagbucks search it. Just make sure you sign up for Swagbucks through Maggie's referral link first.

  36. I don't think Mr/Mrs Anonymous is bitter. I also save a ton of money from this site and many others. You have to check other sites too cause Maggie doesn't have all the great deals. I heard these sites bring in several grand a month. I believe it because they all put up those silly deals from Amazon that they make money from. But ok with me cause if they did not receive any money for all their time, they would not do it. Motivation to "help other people" is a joke and runs out fast. Money rules. Keep it up Maggie!!

  37. I love your site and use it daily. I have also seen you and your girls shopping at Walmart. I need your help on planning a Disney vacation for Thanksgiving 2012. Any information to make it as cheap as possible is welcome.
    ReplyDelete
  38. I have a few tips as to planning for Disney as I've been 4 times in the past 6 years. Check the economy Disney resorts and BUY THE DINING PLAN. Food cost is by far the highest expense and with the plan you will save tons of money.

Bring snacks with you to the park and iced water is FREE at any quick service counter (learned that on my last trip).

There's a blogger friend of mine that knows everything about Disney. You may want to read her tips (www.couponingtodisney.com). Lots of luck with your trip and have a great time!!!

  39. Thank you so much for creating such a nice, user friendly website. I love your motto... Paying it Forward. Perhaps you should even have ways for moms to pay forward donations on this site. I used to donate kid/baby items to a local orphanage in Virginia. It would be a nice touch! :)
